AuSIM Garage: Health & Safety Policy
A shared facility for small teams
Most co-working sites are great for a sterile office with a few plants, a coffee machine, and amenities.   The AuSIM Garage R&D co-work facility differentiates itself for those that like to spread-out and make things, but need a little more structure (less chaos) than a hacker space.

Health & Safety Policy
Our Commitment: The safety and well-being of all members and visitors are our highest priority.  We are committed to providing a secure, healthy, and comfortable shared environment.

Your Shared Responsibility: Safety is a team effort.   All community members are expected to comply with this policy and actively contribute to maintaining a safe space, especially with visitors.

Key Rules for a Safe Space

  • Emergencies:
    • Know the Exit: Familiarize yourself with the nearest emergency exits and the designated assembly point (where you meet outside).
    • Report Hazards: Immediately report any fire, injury, or safety hazard (e.g., spills, damaged equipment, blocked exits) to a site manager or staff member.

  • Health & Hygiene:
    • Stay Home When Sick: Please do not use AuSIM Garage if you are feeling unwell or have a contagious illness.
    • Clean Up: Keep your workspace and common areas (conference room, huddle room, lunch counter, high bay, restroom, etc.) clean, tidy, and free of clutter or trip hazards.
    • Personal Hygiene: Practice good hand hygiene, especially before and after using common areas.
Please find wipes and hand sanitizer at the foyer table.
    • Professional Cleaning: Weekly cleaning for all community areas.

  • Site Security & Equipment:
    • Secure Belongings: Do not leave valuables unattended.  The site is not responsible for lost or stolen personal property.
    • Use Equipment Safely: Use all shared equipment (printer/scanner, kitchen appliances) only for their intended purpose and report any damage immediately.
    • Ergonomics: Be mindful of your posture and take regular breaks to prevent physical strain.  If any furniture is in need of repair, please bring it to attention of management.
In Case of Emergency:
Emergency Action
Fire 1. Sound the alarm
2. Evacuate immediately using the nearest exit.
3. Assemble at the parking strip at the SW corner of the parking lot.
First Aid Locate the First Aid Kit in the restroom cabinet or contact a staff member for assistance.
Serious Injury Call 911 (or local emergency services) immediately, then notify a staff member.

Thank you for helping us keep this a safe and welcoming shared work site.
