AuSIM presented new technology at I/ITSEC 2004 for the fifth consecutive year. In booth 3128 AuSIM partnered with Information In Place, Inc. (IIPI), a Mixed and Augmented Reality (AR) research firm from Bloomington, Indiana, and with Sennheiser Government Systems (SGS), an audio solutions supplier for government projects from Old Lyme, CT. Demonstrations included an integrated audio-visual mixed reality scene, AuSIM's new 3DVX communications system, Sennheiser's active noise protection systems, and interactive 3D sound applications.
All demonstrations make dynamic use of head-tracking technology, provided by AuSIM partners Polhemus and InterSense. The new Polhemus Liberty 240-8/8 system demonstrated state-of-the-art multi-sensor 6DOF position tracking. The Intersense's recently released InertiaCube3 system demonstrated the latest in rugged, portable, low-power 3DOF orientation tracking.
I/ITSEC 2004 took place in Orlando, Florida, at the Orange County Convention Center on International Drive. The theme of the conference is Simulation and Training: Transforming 21st Century Operations.
The agenda included four days of tutorials, exhibits, papers and special events. For more information on Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, visit their website at http://www.iitsec.org/.
The Interservice / Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) promotes cooperation among the Armed Services, Industry, Academia and various Government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs, identification of common training issues and development of multiservice programs.
Initiated in 1966 as the Naval Training Device Center/Industry Conference, the conference has evolved and expanded through increased participation by the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Industry. In 1979 it became known as the Interservice / Industry Training Equipment Conference.
