Cable Facts and Info AuSIM uses professional audio cables, adapters, and converters in assembling our equipment. As your system expands, or as requirements change, you may changing the wiring to reconfigure or add new components. We strongly recommend using only studio-quality cables, and we can supply the excellent HOSA line of cables. "Balanced" audio interconnects provide superior noise rejection as compared with "unbalanced" (coaxial) interconnects, because they benefit from a phenomenon known as "common mode noise rejection," where outside electrical noise affects both conductors equally and, in effect, cancels itself out. The components we use, such as addaboxes (A/D and D/A converters) are designed for balanced 1/4" audio cables to improve noise rejection. All cables we use are of the balanced type, and where possible, any add-in cables should be of the balanced variety. Patch Bay Cables These are sets of color coded for internal wiring inside a console or travel case. Balanced cables should be used. Cable "Snakes" Sets of longer cables bundled together for neatness and ease of routing. Very useful in reducing the chaos in a studio or lab environment. Cable Ends AuSIM has settled on a standard set of connectors used in our systems:
